
Located in the southwest of Bulgaria, Bansko (Банско) sits at the foot of the Pirin Mountains at an altitude of 936m. This emerging resort currently boasts 17 ski runs with a total length of 56 km. The resort is well equiped with cabin lifts, tows and artificial snow guns. The museum town of Bansko offers excellent vacationing conditions all the year round. Bansko really has it all, beautiful landscapes, delicious food and wine, friendly and sincere local people and a variety of good accomodation opportunities.
Once known for more traditional activities, Bansko has now become a centre of both winter and summer tourism. The area is a haven for recreation due to the close proximity of mountains, pine woods and lakes. The area is also renowned for its thermal springs. Banya, a village 5km from Bansko has a total of 27 mineral springs. The Bansko Jazz Festival has also created international popularity. Bansko is the worlds fourth winter resort with a five star hotel from the Kempinski group. In 2003, a new gondola lift was constructed in Bansko. Previous to this, the journey to the slopes of Todorka was via minibus. Further gondolas are / have been installed in the area since. It is this kind of investment into the infrastructure of Bansko as well as the building of quality apartments / housing that has made the town such a popular location for tourism and property investment. |
