The old part of the town is still remains virtually unchanged with typical Spanish features such as narrow streets, whitewashed houses and at the heart of Nerja is its spectacular "Balcón de Europa". This is a magnificent promenade along the edge of a towering cliff, previously the site of a great Moorish castle. From this point you have sweeping panoramic views of the Mediterranean. Located in and around Nerja are plenty of restaurants and café/bars to choose from, and all the normal water sports are available. Why not take a ride on a traditional horse-drawn carriage and explore the romantic corner of the town. Here you will find archaeological treasures such as paintings over 20,000 years old and other pre-historic remains.
